Finnhub provides real-time quote data and supplementary fundamentals for US equities and major international markets. It complements EODHD by providing faster quote updates and additional corporate event data.
Real-time quotes
Finnhub supplies tick-by-tick price updates for US equities via WebSocket during market hours. Worldview uses these to provide:
- Live price indicator in instrument page headers (updates every 1–2 seconds during open market)
- Bid/ask spread in watchlist panels
- Real-time day change calculation
Quote delay
Worldview's standard plan uses Finnhub's delayed data (15-second delay for US equities). Real-time (0-delay) quotes require an Enterprise plan. This delay is sufficient for research and monitoring workflows but not for high-frequency trading.
News
Finnhub provides a news feed for US and international companies, covering major financial media sources. This feed is one of the inputs to Worldview's content ingestion pipeline alongside other sources.
Finnhub news is tagged with:
- Category — company (specific), market (broad)
- Related symbols — list of mentioned tickers
- Headline sentiment — pre-computed Finnhub sentiment score (supplemented by Worldview's own NLP model)
Corporate events
Finnhub's earnings calendar provides:
- Earnings date — expected Q and date
- EPS estimate — consensus
- Revenue estimate — consensus
- EPS actual and Revenue actual — populated post-release
The Economic Calendar widget on the dashboard uses Finnhub's economic events endpoint for macro data (GDP, CPI, NFP, etc.).
